Press release re: new neon collection!!!!

"I DREAM OF NY" (NEONS) COLLECTION AVAILABLE AUGUST 15!

NEONS have now arrived at Mrs. P's Nail Potions!!!!! I have compiled a collection of fun and unique neon lacquers all inspired by the television series "The Carrie Diaries". In case anyone is not familiar with the TV series, it is effectively the "prequel" to "Sex And The City" where it shows Carrie's life throughout high school and prior to her living in NY. The series takes place in the 80's and brings me back to all the wonder that was the fashion and music of the 80's!!!

The photo above depicts the entire six piece collection, from left to right: The Emerald Strikes Back, Wake Me Up Before You Day-Glow, Purple Reigns, Purse-onal Style, Papa Don't Peach, and Glam-Rocker.

You will have the choice of any of the six available lacquers in full-size bottles or you can get a mini set of all six (minis will not be sold in individual lacquers). You can choose one, two, three, four, five, or all six - whatever suits your fancy. These lacquers will run for $8.00 CAD each for individual full-size bottles, with the exception of "Glam-rocker" which will retail for $9.00 CAD simply due to the sheer amount of glitter in it and the higher price point of some of the glitter used for that particular polish. The entire six piece full-size set will retail for $40.00 CAD. There will also be the added option of purchasing the "Papa Don't Peach" and "Glam-rocker" duo in full-size for $15.00 CAD.

As previously stated, the inspiration behind all of these lacquers was "The Carrie Diaries", in particular the fashion. I would like to share with you the inspiration photos for each of the lacquers so you can see where my vision came from :) It all started with an immediate vision for a polish that popped into my head when I saw the pilot episode which kind of centred around a purse that Carrie made (painted it with nail polish) which was spotted and coveted by a fashion editor for Carrie's favourite fashion mag "Interview".

I immediately saw visions of a black polish loaded with various shapes and colours of glitters. Hence, "Purse-onal Style" was born, which is a sheer black base full of white shreds, large neon pink hexes, medium orange hexes, neon blue slices, neon green squares, and neon yellow fine glitter.

"The Emerald Strikes Back" is a neon green base with loads of medium silver holo hexes and fine silver glitter as well as a smattering here and there of some medium sized orange hexes. Obviously the name is a play on "The Empire Strikes Back" which was part of the epic Star Wars saga and was the 1980's highest grossing film.

"Papa Don't Peach" is a solid neon orange polish. It is the only polish in the collection with no glitter, which makes it a perfect pairing for "Glam-rocker". I decided not to use any glitter in this polish as I felt the orange was just too awesome all on its own. Plus I knew I would have a glitter topper in this collection so a solid polish to pair up with the glitter topper was just what was needed! Obviously the name is a play on the Madonna song "Papa Don't Preach" which was released in June of 1986 and there is no doubt that Madonna was one of the most iconic artists of the 1980's.

"Wake Me Up Before You Day-glow" is a neon yellow base with neon blue slices and medium orange hexes. The name is a play on the Wham! hit "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" which was released in 1984 and became the band's first UK number one hit.

"Purple Reigns" is a neon purple base with lots of glitz and glamour made possible by medium silver holo hexes and fine purple holo glitter. For some fun and interest there are some black bars thrown into the mix. The name is a play on "Purple Rain" which was the sixth studio album released by Prince and The Revolution and was the soundtrack album to the 1984 movie. "Purple Rain" is regularly ranked among the best albums in music history.

"Glam-rocker" is a clear base glitter topper chockfull of bright and glitzy glitters. You'll find: ultra fine super sparkly pink glitter, silver holo micro slices, medium gold holo hexes, large neon pink hexes, medium orange hexes, neon blue slices, white shreds, medium metallic red hexes, and fine neon yellow glitter. There's so much stuff in this glitter topper that every swipe of the brush is a surprise on your nail! This polish was inspired by the whole era of "Glam Rock" (also known as "Glitter Rock") which is a style of rock and pop music that developed in the UK in the 1970's and gained popularity through the 70's and 80's and even saw a revival in the 90's. It was performed by singers and musicians who wore outrageous clothes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform-soled boots and glitter.

Any of the above lacquers can be purchased online at http://www.etsy.com/shop/MrsPsNailPotions as of August 15, 2013.

Here are some photos of the swatches I have done on a nail wheel:

2 coats, no top coat
2 coats, no top coat
2 coats, no top coat (this photo does no justice to the sparkle that this polish has!)
2 thin coats, no top coat
2 generous coats, no top coat
1 generous coat, no top coat

And in case you weren't aware, I also have SCENTED TOP COATS available now!!!!!

These top coats are durable with a high gloss shine and will not yellow. There is no colour added, simply a delicious scent. DISCLAIMER: OBVIOUSLY NOT EDIBLE (sorry, has to be said) AND WILL ONLY SMELL OF THE SCENT ONCE IT IS DRY (while it is wet it will still have that nail polish odour). Please DO NOT sniff the polish until it is 100% dry! The scent should last anywhere from one or two days to one week, depending how often you wash your hands etc. and depending on how strong the scent is as some scents are stronger than others.

Choose from the following scents:

-Lemon
-Coconut
-Chocolate Fudge
-Apple Cinnamon, or
**BRAND NEW - BUBBLE GUM**

These can also be purchased from my etsy shop and they retail for $8.00 CAD each.  There is also a mini set available (of the four original scents released) which retails for $15.00 CAD.

And don't forget that the summer lacquers "Your Pool or Mine?" and "Summer Nights" will no longer be available after the end of this month.  If you are interested in either of these, get them while you can!!  They also retail for $8.00 CAD each and can be found in my etsy shop.

Mrs. P's Nail Potions - Spring Fling with OPI DS Reserve accent

So I was going through all my photos and I came across a not-so-recent mani I did back in March or April which I hadn't posted yet.  OOPS!  So here it is!  It is kind of springy, hence why I did it in March/April, but it's still pretty and I'd still like to share it with all of you :)

So for this mani I used Mrs. P's Nail Potions Spring Fling with an accent ring finger of OPI DS Reserve.

Spring Fling is a sheer, shimmery pale green base with matte pastel hex glitters.  Depending on the thickness of the coats you apply it can be opaque in two to three coats.  It can also be used as a layering polish in one coat over almost any colour.  When used as a layering polish over colours other than green, it gives a neat sort of duochrome look as it is so sheer that the other colour comes through pretty much perfectly but it gives it a nice shimmery light green shift at certain angles.

Not much needs to be said about OPI DS Reserve.  It is part of the OPI Designer Series collection and is a medium pink loaded with a scattered holo.

See how pretty?!?!

I used this as an accent nail.  I love the combo of green and pink and I thought this pink with the scattered holo nicely picked up the pink of the hex glitters in Spring Fling.  This was almost a one coater but I did two to make sure I got a generous helping of all the holo goodness!

Everything was topped off with one coat of Seche Vite dry fast top coat.  All photos were taken indoors near a window in direct sunlight.

Spring Fling can be found in my etsy shop here and retails for $8.00 CAD per bottle.

As always with my lacquers, if you purchase any five full-sized bottles you can receive $5.00 off with code "BUY5GET5" and $10.00 off of ten bottles with code "BUY10GET10".

As for the OPI DS polishes, it is tough to find them sometimes.  Reserve is not one of the original or older DS polishes so I was able to find my bottle easily through Nail Polish Canada for $16.00 CAD.

Summer has arrived and so have Mrs. P's Summer Lacquers!

Today I've got a nice close look at my summer lacquers: "Your Pool or Mine?" And "Summer Nights".

Both of these were introduced in my very first summer collection last year and they were the most popular of the five I released, as well as my personal favourites :). I decided to re-release these two lacquers for this summer and they have been available as of June 1, 2013. However, they will only be available until August 31, 2013, at which point they will not be seen again until next summer.

First up is "Your Pool or Mine?"

This is a vibrant blue jelly base loaded with iridescent flakies. Depending on the thickness of your coats it will become opaque in two to three coats. You could also use this as a layering polish in one coat over another blue.

Next up is "Summer Nights".

This is super sparkly and photos do not do this justice. It is a sheer, deep, vibrant, shimmery purple base loaded with all sorts of reflective glitter. There is iridescent fine and medium hex glitters and fine holo purple and blue glitters. Again, depending on the thickness of your coats, this will become opaque in two to three coats. This can also be used as a layering polish in one coat over another purple.

Here are more views of my summer lacquer mani, I just alternated the two lacquers on all my nails.

All photos were taken indoors near a window in direct sunlight.

"Your Pool or Mine" and "Summer Nights" both retail for $8.00 CAD each and don't forget they are only available until August 31, 2013. Both summer lacquers can be purchased from my etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/MrsPsNailPotions?ref=si_shop

And as always, if you purchase any five full-sized bottles of Mrs. P's Nail Potions you can receive $5.00 off with code "BUY5GET5" and $10.00 off for ten bottles with code "BUY10GET10".

Made it into the newspaper!

Ok so this post is fairly after the fact but its still applicable lol.

So on Friday, May 31st the Edmonton Journal ran an article on me and my nail polishes!! I think I'm actually still shocked to this day but I am very pleased with how the article was done and it has certainly skyrocketed my local interest and popularity. Much more than any trade show ever has to this point! I'm so grateful for this article and the exposure it has given me and it has fast tracked the public interest and word of mouth that my business would have otherwise gained without the article. It is amazing how much this article has helped me out and I'm so excited to build on this high and keep it going higher and higher!

So there was a little mention on the front cover of the style section:

And then as soon as you opened the section there was a FULL PAGE SPREAD about me and my nail polishes *blush*
