Almost There!!!!!!!!

Well it's getting to be about that time.  I'm almost at the end of my first pregnancy and Devereux will be along very very soon.  I am due June 29th but I am officially on maternity leave starting June 1st.  Which means I only have 4 more work days left after today!!!!!!!

Last week I went for an ultrasound, I was 34 weeks.  My doctor sent me for one at this stage just to be sure everything was AOK.  He wasn't necessarily concerned but I have been measuring on the smaller side the last few visits so he thought better safe than sorry.  I was not going to complain as my last ultrasound was at 20 weeks and I'd give anything to get another sneak peek at my baby before he comes out :)  So I went for my ultrasound on May 14th and it was even better than my first ultrasound experience at 20 weeks and I thought that was the best thing ever at that point LOL.  I had the best tech and she took her time and showed me everything she possible could.  It was crazy to see Devereux on the monitor at this point because he didn't so much look like a sorta baby or an alien or anything like that anymore.  It actually looked like a baby in my tummy now.  Everything was much better proportions and I got a great look at him "face to face" as he looked right at the camera and opened his mouth and lifted his head.  His face didn't look like an alien anymore, it looked like a teeny tiny little person and it was so cute!!!!!!  Yes I know it was blurry black and white and 2D but it was still the cutest thing I had seen in a long time and I almost teared up LOL.  Anyone who knows me well at all is probably not surprised by that statement LOL.  I'm no expert but from what I saw he has a perfect little face and perfect little hands and fingers and feet and toes, an adorable little baby rump and a little heart that just beats away like crazy.  It was truly an amazing experience!!

The following week (on Tuesday, May 22nd in fact) was my regular check up with my doctor and I got the results of my ultrasound.  He said there were no abnormalities and everything looks just fine, I'm just having a smaller baby from what they can tell at this point.  Which, I'm totally okay with!!!!  I'm the one that has to push this thing out so the smaller the better actually!!!!  Within reason obviously.  Don't want our baby boy to be freakishly small obviously.  But doc said my belling is still growing and I am still gaining weight and everything on the ultrasound looks good so he is not concerned at all.  At this point though Devereux is measuring in at the 25th percentile MAX.  Again, totally okay with that! LOL

Mrs. P's Nail Potions - Your Pool or Mine?

Hello all!  Today I have another sneak peak at an up and coming Potion which will be part of my Summer 2012 Collection, Your Pool or Mine?  This is a fabulous vibrant bright blue jelly base with iridescent flakies instead of glitter.  I will admit that the application was a tad difficult as it was hard to get an even coat with normal brush strokes (it would tend to just push the color to the sides and the flakies wouldn't spread).  However, if you treat it kind of like a gel and build it up more in a pool in the center of your nail and spread it and smooth it out towards the sides it works like a charm and you get fantastic coverage.  All these pictures are two coats with one coat of Essie Good to Go top coat and the result was a super smooth and shiny almost glass-like finish.

The photos below were taken near a window during an overcast day.

The photos below were taken outside in direct sunlight.

I was very pleasantly surprised and LOVED the look of this Potion in the direct sunlight.  I couldn't believe how it shimmered and the marbled/textured look that the flakies give off especially in the sunlight is amazing and very pleasing on the eyes.  The vibrant blue just becomes even more vibrant in the sunlight and reminds me very much of the bright aqua blue of a Caribbean sea.

Please excuse the dry cuticles.  Our son caught a viral infection from daycare and there was a lot of disinfecting and washing and cleaning so it totally dried my hands out :(

Please feel free to leave any comments or feedback.  As mentioned above, this will be part of my upcoming Summer 2012 Collection.  The collection will consist of 5 Potions, Sunkissed, Pink Lemonade, Your Pool or Mine, Summer Nights and Kiwi Koloda.  The collection will be sold in a mini set for $17.50.

If you are interested in purchasing any of my Potions please email me at mrspnailpotions@hotmail.com and/or check out my facebook page at www.facebook.com/MrsPsNails.  Mini bottles are $4.00 each plus applicable s&h to wherever you are located and full sized bottles are $8.00 each plus applicable s&h to wherever you are located.  If you wish to purchase, email me or message me on facebook with your order along with your full name, mailing address and email address and I will calculate your shipping charge and send you an invoice through PayPal.  I only accept payment through PayPal at this point.  Invoices are due within 48 hours of receipt.  Upon payment of the invoice I will put your order in the queue to be made and shipped out to you.

Of All The Rotten Luck

Good morning all.  Well I don't know if I can actually say good at this point but it is morning.  We've got a bit of a situation in our household and it's no fun.  We had a long night to boot and today I'm home with Daniel as he cannot go to daycare :(

Yesterday when I picked Daniel up from daycare it seems that daycare had a breakout of hand, foot and mouth disease and unfortunately Daniel was one of the lucky little children to catch it.  They said he didn't seem to be in any discomfort and he was acting normal and in good spirits but he was covered in red spots all over his face and hands.  Upon speaking with the daycare workers and looking up more information on the disease when we got home it turns out that it's not a super serious infection unless the child develops fever or vomiting or sores in the mouth and throat which can make it difficult to eat and swallow and in turn lead to dehydration.  It's a viral disease so unfortunately there is not antibiotic for it to cure it and it just has to run it's course :P  We are disinfecting EVERYTHING and keep washing our hands and Daniel's hands especially after wiping his bum after he poos or if he's had his hands in his mouth or if we've had to blow his nose. That's how this spreads is through contact (direct or indirect) with nose secretions, saliva or stool. Dorian and I will probably be okay as it is very rare that adults catch this. It is usually just infants and children up to 5 years old. We are taking ridiculous precautions though just because we don't know how strong my immune system is with being in the last two months of my pregnancy, and especially since I just recently got over a cold and seem to be fighting allergies somewhat right now. Ugh! Why couldn't this have held off for thee more weeks and then Daniel would have been home and in the clear as I start my maternity leave June 1st and Daniel will be out of daycare and home with me as of then. ARGH!!! Oh well.

So far there are no spots in Daniel's mouth or throat that we can see and he hasn't complained of anything in his mouth.  But his face is covered and a few of them are in some more sensitive areas on his face and they have kind of opened up over night and are almost like wounds.  He basically has a polysporin face mask on right now.  They are also all over his hands and then sporadically in the areas of his body that are kind of sweaty like the creases of his groin and on his bum and behind his knees.  Those just look like hives though, nothing major and they don't seem to cause him any discomfort.  His face is a little tender and he actually has two tiny little bumps under his left eye.  His eyes are a little pink and slightly pussy and I don't know if that is just because of the hand, foot and mouth disease or if he picked up a little pink eye too (they have had a recent outbreak of that at the daycare as well).  SIGH!

Last night was tough.  We didn't get much sleep.  Daniel was awake every few hours crying because he was scared or he said his head hurt (the disease can cause headaches).  It was a very long night for Daniel, my husband and me and we kept Daniel on Tylenol and water as much as we could.  I'm home with Daniel today as we didn't think he was well enough for daycare and frankly didn't want to make the spread of this disease any worse for the daycare staff and parents than it probably already is.  My husband was going to be the one to stay home just because we were trying to keep me germ free as much as possible, however, go figure, he got a very early morning call from work for some EPS radio work and only he could do the job and he is on call so he had to go into work at 6:00 this morning.  That meant I had to be the one to stay home with Daniel after all.  Which I suppose is a good thing in the end because when I looked in the mirror this morning my one eye was a little pink and felt ever so slightly tender.  I have a problem with catching pink eye lately as it is so I grabbed my antibiotic drops that I always have around and used them to catch it before it got any worse.  Seems to have done the trick so far.  FINGERS CROSSED!

So today we're just relaxing and trying to stay as clean as possible.  I  just feel so sorry for my poor sweet little boy as he looks absolutely miserable and is clearly uncomfortable from time to time.  He so badly just wants to snuggle and be loved and of course I have to keep my distance and be careful.  I've explained it to him and he says he understands but still looks so disappointed ya know :(

Mrs. P's Nail Potions - Pink Lemonade

This is Pink Lemonade.  This will be a Potion in my upcoming Summer 2012 Potion Collection.  Pink Lemonade is a fun flirty pink jelly base loaded with tons of iridescent glitter and yellow fibre glitter.  It can be used alone or as a layering polish.  It is super sparkly and very versatile.

In the photos below I have used one coat of China Glaze Shocking Pink (neon) on the accent nails (thumb and ring finger) with two coats of Pink Lemonade over top and the remaining nails are three coats of Pink Lemonade alone.  I finished it all of with a generous coat of Essie Good to Go top coat.  The photos below were taken in daylight (cloudy).

The next group of photos were taken in direct sunlight but still don't do this polish justice as it is super super super sparkly and dances in the sunlight with all the glitter.

This last group of photos shows the versatility of this Potion as a layering polish.  I put one coat of each of the following on a practice wheel (left to right): Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine, Julep Eva, China Glaze Shocking Pink (neon) and CND Brilliant White and then put one very generous coat of Pink Lemonade over each of those.

Please feel free to leave your comments or questions on this blog post.  I welcome any and all feedback.

If you are interested in purchasing any of my Potions you can contact me at mrspnailpotions@hotmail.com and/or through my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MrsPsNails.  Full sized bottles are currently only available for pre-order and are $8.00 each plus s&h.  Mini bottles are currently readily available and are $4.00 each plus s&h.

Mrs. P's Nail Potions - My First Time

Good evening all.  This manicure is a few days old already and am only getting around to post it now.  Things have been getting kinda busy with getting invoicing done for Potions people have requested and getting shipments of mini Potions out and of course getting the house and our lives in general ready for the baby as that is quickly approaching too :)

With this manicure I also decided to try a new nail shape.  I got rid of the square nails and went for the more pointed oval look that is super popular right now.  Not entirely sure how I feel about it yet although they are super awesome for scratching!!!!! LOL

This manicure was achieved with my very first Potion, dubbed "My First Time" LOL.  This is a bluey purple shimmery almost metallic base with silver, pink and iridescent glitter.  For my very first Potion I was quite impressed with myself and loved how the color turned out.  It's not quite a duochrome but in some lights it definitely reads more blue or more purple.  I was even further impressed with it when I tried it out for the first time a couple days ago to actually paint my nails with it.  Turns out it's a ONE COATER!!!!!!!  Booya!!!! *thumbs up*

Please let me know what you think of this Potion and any other Potions of mine.  I welcome any and all feedback and comments.  If you are interested in purchasing this or any other Potion please comment below or email me at mrspnailpotions@hotmail.com or check out my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MrsPsNails.

Mini Potions are 5 mL/0.16 oz. and $4.00 each plus applicable shipping & handling to wherever you are located.  Full sized Potions are 15 mL/0.5 oz. and $8.00 each plus applicable shipping & handling to wherever you are located.

Currently I can invoice and ship out Mini Potion orders almost immediately (PayPal is the only accepted method of payment and payment must be received within 48 hours of receipt of PayPal invoice, unless specific other arrangements are made ahead of time).  At the moment I do not have the full sized or enough full sized bottles on hand so full sized Potion orders are being taken on a pre-order/purchase basis.  I expect to be placing an order for a full sized bottle shipment this week or next and should receive that shortly thereafter.  Once in receipt of the bottles I can mix the Potions and have them shipped out to you.

Also a note about the Cotton Candy Cupcake, I am unfortunately having quality/formula issues with it that need to be worked out and am not able to sell any bottles of this Potion yet.  I am working on fixing these issues very soon and if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for this potion please contact me to let me know (comment below, email or facebook as noted above).

Thank you everyone for your interest and support and please SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!! :) <3

Mrs. P's Nail Potion - It's My Party!

This is what a bottle of It's My Party! looks like
Good afternoon all!  Hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I'm featuring another one of my "Potions" in this blog post - It's My Party!  This is a super fun polish and one of my favorites of the ones I've made.  It's super versatile and will go with anything.  It's a milky white (not opaque) base loaded with tonnes of various glitters in different sizes, shapes and colors.  You can use this alone in a few coats or you can use it as a layering polish over another color.  For this manicure, I chose to use it over Essie's Navigate her which is a lovely pistachio green creme polish.  All the pictures below were taken by a window in daylight.  It was a cloudy day all day the day I did this manicure so no chance of sunlight pics unfortunately.

And just to show the versatility of this polish, I painted several different colors on a practice wheel and did one coat of It's My Party! over top.

This and other "Potions" are available for purchase through my facebook page at www.facebook.com/MrsPsNails or by emailing me your request at mrspnailpotions@hotmail.com.  I am slowly working on producing stock to have on hand but at the moment I'm basically making the polishes as they are requested.  Currently I have mini Potions available to be sent out immediately for $4.00 each plus shipping and handling and I am taking pre-orders/purchases for full-sized Potions which will be $8.00 each plus shipping and handling.
